When White Mountain made these Freezers all the parts were hot dipped in food grade tin, this is what give it the galvanize look. I have found a great company still doing this work at a very reasonable price.

If you have a freezer or any Food equipment that needs re-tinned check them out!
Do not send your parts by UPS unless you insure them very well. Cans for $250.00, Dashers for $1000.00 Lids for $500.00. UPS has lost or damaged more White Mountain parts lately. I would use Fedex or some other carrier.
Don't throw then rusty freezers away! Have them re-tinned and they will look like new!
Questions and answers if I can!
Is the green ice cream maker in the photo the 20 quart size you are looking for?
Paul: Yes it is!
That looks more like a 10 quart at the most.
When I was a kid, we sold cream in 5 gal (20 qt) cans and they might just fit inside the green unit. Was the 20 qt size cranked by hand?
Paul: Yes but most were made to be cranked by hand but those made for the commercial market were used with an electric motor.
We still make homemade ice cream for special occasions and have both crank and electric 4 qt sizes and one crank 3 qt unit. Can't imagine cranking a 5 gal size freezer.
Paul: The great thing about a 20 quart is you can make 1/2 gal up 5 gals if you want.
Just curious.
George
Do you buy parts? I have a white Mountain ice cream maker stamp with a 20 like the one in your pictures but the wood bucket is rotten and falling apart. Most of the parts have some rust on them. The crank still turns but makes a lot of noise. Are you interested?
Paul: Yes! Any parts or pieces in any shape. I am interested in buying any parts. Please send a picture!
I have a white mountain ice cream maker but it looks nothing like what you have pictured on your site. Do you buy other white mountian makers? How do I go about selling it to you? Will you come pick it up?
Paul: I do buy most any white Mountain ice cream maker or anything related! To sell me your maker I would like you to send me some pictures and the price you would to get out of your freezer and your contact information. I will come pick it up if it is a big freezer, or you can ship it to me through UPS. I will pay for the shipping.
Nobody else seems to be able to answer this question for me so hopefully you’ll be able to help!
What is the difference between the White Mountain Freezer by Rival that is listed on Amazon and the other White Mountain Freezer’s? Are they both the same product or 2 different products with the same name?

Paul:
The White Mountain Freezer
Company which manufactures ice cream freezers is the largest establishment of
the kind in the world. The company began business in Laconia, New Hampshire in
1872. Thomas Sands being the inventor, was the proprietor and manager. The
enterprise was a success from the start and greatly expanded its business until
1881, when its factory was burned. Following the fire Mr. Sands set out to find
the best place in which to locate, where better railroad facilities could be
obtained than at Laconia. After thoroughly canvassing the situation he decides
upon Nashua, New Hampshire. He accordingly purchased four acres of land between
the tracks of the Worcester & Nashua and Nashua Acton railroads, where he
located his factories.
The buildings include the main factory which is two hundred by forty feet.
storehouse two hundred by thirty-three feet, foundry and shops, one hundred and
fifty by fifty feet, store and boiler house, one hundred and seventy-five by
twenty-six feet, with several buildings for drying, cooperating, pattern making,
etc.
Mr. Sands carried on the business until 1888. when a corporate company was
formed and he disposed of his entire interest. The company is organized with a
paid-up capital of $100,000. Nearly every piece of machinery used in the
business-some of it is novel and intricate-was invented for, and patents are
owned by White Mountain Freezer.
After complete destruction in the Nashua fire on May 4 1930,
it was moved to Broad Street. In 1963, the company was sold to the Alaska
Freezer Company of Winchendon, Massachusetts. at about this time is when you
start to see the green paint on the buckets.
In 1974, an investor group, headed by William H. Potter, Jr.,
purchased the company, renaming the entire company White Mountain Freezer, Inc."
Mr. Potter bought out his partners in 1981 and has been the President and owner
of White Mountain Freezer, Inc. Sometime in the late 1980's to early 1990's
Rival company bought them out and took over production till about 3 or 4 years
ago when a company called Jartan bought out rival and started having the white
mountain freezers made in china.
The freezers made by rival with the white mountain name on them are the same as most any that were made in the last 10 years. Feel free to send me pictures and I will do my best to tell you what I know.
Greetings, I have a large electric WM with wooden bucket – probably too modern for what you are looking for.
May I ask a favor: How do you get the wooden bucket to stop leaking. I tried soaking in water, oiling it, sealing inside with silicone and nothing works. The water drains out all around the bottom seam faster than I can make the ice cream.
Thanks!
Atwater, CA
The best way to fix this is to place the wood bucket in a larger container. put some weight in the bottom of the ice cream bucket them fill both with water. let this stand for 2-3 days. works most ever time.
